Nkhoma, Malawi

African Mission Healthcare partners with Nkhoma Mission Hospital in Malawi, a small land-locked country known for its people’s kindness and generosity - earning it the nickname the “Warm Heart of Africa.” It remains one of the poorest countries in the world, with more than half its citizens living below the international poverty line of $2 per day.

Nkhoma Mission Hospital

Nkhoma Mission Hospital has been a beacon of light for a large rural community in central Malawi since its founding in 1915. Since then, the hospital has grown into a 250-bed teaching and referral institution offering a broad range of services and outreach programs.

Nkhoma Mission Hospital is one of African Mission Healthcare’s Mission Hospital Teaching Network’s 10-year signature grant recipients. Our investments have supported the launch of family medicine residency training in 2017 and a surgical residency under the Pan–African Academy of Christian Surgeons in 2022.
