At just 12 years old, Kuda Abdulmajid faced a life-altering challenge. A diabetic living in the remote Nuba Mountains, Kuda lacked access to the care he needed. His condition worsened, and an infection in his lower right leg led to the unimaginable—an amputation of his foot.
Getting around on crutches in such rugged terrain made everyday life incredibly difficult. But hope arrived with the annual visit of a specialized prosthetics team from Uganda to The Mother of Mercy Hospital.
This year, Kuda, now 14, was among the hundreds of patients fitted with a custom-designed prosthetic limb.
Photos capture the powerful moment he stood and walked for the first time since his amputation—determined, focused, and full of joy.
Kuda is already mastering his new leg. His dream? To move through life with a renewed sense of normalcy and dignity.
